Intimacy lacking? Wash your wife Every now and then I “push the envelope” and use a title for a blog that I know will raise eyebrows. It’s kinda fun actually, but the idea from this title comes from Paul.
Intimacy lacking? Wash your wife!
If you read the last blog that I wrote then you know the difficult bickering can cause in a marriage. Bickering/Strife can grind answered prayer to a halt instantly. But Bickering/Strife can stop intimacy in it’s tracks too.
So what does “washing your wife” have to do with Intimacy and keeping your prayer life and walk with God strong? Let’s look at what Paul said in Ephesians 5:25-26 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so here’s the husbands responsibility list;
- “love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her”
- “having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word”
The husband transmits…the wife receives
Think about the husbands part in helping his wife create a new life…he transmits his seed into his wife, and she receives his seed and 9 months later she brings forth a baby.
This isn’t difficult at all for the husband because his seed knows what to do with the egg…and the wife’s body knows what to do with the seed as well…there is no guess work!
He transmits The Word and she receives The Word!
As the husband daily transmits The Word to his wife by reading it to her out-loud, she will receive it and it will begin to create intimacy in the marriage. It’s really quite simple if it’s done by the husband consistently.
What if my husband doesn’t want to participate?
This may be the case at the beginning, but if he reads this article (print it out and take it to him and read it to him) he will begin to understand that increased Bible reading increases intimacy.
🙂 On a lighter note, I instructed a young wife to pick up her Bible and walk up to her husband and just stare at him until he reads to her.
