Finding a fulfilled marriage in Jesus Christ
Finding a fulfilled marriage in Jesus Christ
The dream of every newlywed couple, finding a fulfilled marriage in Jesus Christ. Almost every married couple seeks this but most cannot seem to grasp the meaning of it.
If we look at the word of god we will find that the husband has specific things that he needs to do. The wife also has specific things that she needs to do.
But when we look at the last the husband tends to feel as if he’s being left out and the wife tends to feel like she is being left out as well.
Lets look at what the bible says about Finding a fulfilled marriage in Jesus Christ
What The Bible says
In Ephesians chapter 5 we find the “instructions” that Paul penned:
22Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Many wives look at these curses and think to themselves ” it seems as if I’m going to be a slave for this entire marriage”. I had actually heard women say this when they come in for premarital counseling.
They think that the husband is going to be the task master and the wife is the servant… That nothing could be further from the truth! Look a verse 23 where Paul tells us that the husband is the head of the wife…
But he doesn’t stop there he goes on to say “as Christ also is head of the church, he himself being the savior of the body”.
If you look at this you can see that the husband has some pretty big shoes to fill doesn’t he? Jesus is the head of the body… He is the savior of the body so it is his job to ensure that we are safe and secure.
So the husband must receive from God how he is to lead his wife because she cannot do it by herself.
Lets look at exactly how the husband needs to begin leaving his wife and the marriage.
“25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
26so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,“
The husband’s job is to love his wife just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her!
But we know that Jesus gave the ultimate for the church, he gave his life for the church.
So the husband has the assignment to make certain that his wife receives the Word of God daily.
He must explain the Word of God to his wife so that she can understand it.
I am not saying that the wife is not capable of reading the bible for herself and understanding it, in fact I highly recommend it!
Next we discover how the wife fits into this!
