What we think is what we are

what we thinkWhat we think…We’ve all read the Bible verse

For as a man thinks within himself, so he is. Proverbs 23:7

What we think

What we think is powerful…in fact it can “make or break” our very lives.

Failure, illness, divorce and even death create within us by what we think in our minds.

Our mind are very powerful and can dictate what we say, dream or even believe IF we let it.

Where are your thoughts coming from?

This may seem like a sully question but it’s important to realize where your very thoughts are coming from.

As you know Fort Worth Christian Counseling is a Christ/Bible based practice and so we look at things from a Biblical perspective.

So asking you “where” your thoughts are coming from leaves you with 2 choices.

Lets look at: The Bible

Ephesians 6:12 says: “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

The powers of darkness would love to keep you enslaved by “dark thoughts” and thoughts of failure.

If you can’t ever seem to “measure up” to things in life…check your thought life…it will show you exactly why.

Your thought life will keep you from feeling “validated” from others.

Putting your thoughts in proper perspective

As much as we tend to trust a good Therapist like Dr Penewit, Rev Linda Penewit or Rev Ashley Singh Krueger,

we must train ourselves to trust The Word of God above all else.

We look for things that will help us overcome depression but fail to be free.

Why? Because we are looking in the wrong places for help.  Its not “where” we look but “who” we look to for help.

Lets look to Jesus for help with our thought life…he’s “The Master” of it all.

First John 1:7 explains that “if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other,

and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Jesus has already paid the price for wherever your thought life is coming from.

is it sin? or simply negative thoughts? either way if we approach Jesus first…we are well on our way to a “cleansed” thought life.
