What we think about ourselves

Dr. W.H. Penewit

what we think about ourselvesWhat we think about ourselves

What we think about ourselves …In part one of  “What we think is what we are”  we learned that our thought are very powerful…and we saw in:

Proverbs 23:7 “For as a man thinks within himself, so he is.“

If we see ourselves as a success it’s because we “think” that we are a success…that we “have confidence in ourselves“.

If we look at the news we see certain people who are a resounding success and wonder “why do bad/evil people succeed”?

It all begins with what people think about themselves…how they were raised. Parents play a large part in what their children think about themselves.

The Therapists at FWCC  work with people who see themselves as a failure or “odd man out”

So where do we get our thoughts from?

All to often from those who we trust …those who were supposed to “shape us” with words of faith and promise.

What we think about ourselves can be changed from failure to success if we know how to begin.

How we defeat ourselves

There are 5 Temperamentsthat FWCC works with… and every one of them has the issue of “low self-esteem”

Some temperaments such as The Melancholy has the lowest self-esteem of the temperaments.

So how do we defeat this low self-esteem? Lets go through the important steps

  1. All sins that you’ve committed are already forgiven. Jesus dealt with them once-and-for-all….anger, sadness or negative thoughts.
  2. Negative thoughts can lead you down a winding path that’s confusing and deadly. Realizing that God would NEVER say anything negative about you can be a comfort
  3. You CAN take control of your thought life. Look at 2 Corinthians 10:5 “[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),”
