Guarding your thoughts…how to win at spiritual warfare

Guarding your thoughts...how to win at spiritual warfare

Today we’re going to talk about spiritual warfare and your thought life and how it can affect your daily life. This will especially ring true to those who have had bad memories of things that  happened to them as children. And as you well know those memories can haunt you forever…but they don’t have to.

memories can shape our future if we let them

As I’ve said, oftentimes thoughts come from memories and memories can shape our future if we let them.

If you grew up in a family where you couldn’t do anything right, or you could not please your parents …then you may look at yourself as a failure.

If you think about it and pay attention to what you are thinking throughout the day you will find that you are thinking about  have nothing to do with being productive. Usually the thoughts that we think are thoughts that defeat us.

You may feel that you do not have the ability to do the job that you are in and you fear that you may be fired. You may not feel that you are worthy of the love of your mate and that they may leave you. You may feel that your children are going to end up not being successful.

Are you paying attention to these thoughts? What is the one thing that all of these thoughts , and most of the thoughts that you think throughout the day have in common?

The answer? All of these thoughts are fear based.

God has an answer for you where your thought life is concerned

The Word of God will tell you that you are one thing but your thought life will tell you something totally different.

God has an answer for you where your thought life is concerned:

Let’s look at 2nd Corinthians 10 verses 3 to 5

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

What Paul is telling us here as that our warfare isn’t of the flesh, in other words we are not battling with one another. We are battling in the spirit Realm and that is where the attack comes from

These thoughts that come into your mind that constantly bombard you with thoughts of failure and defeat, how ugly and stupid you are… they are not from God! They are from the devil plain and simple!

So now that you know where the battle is let me show you how to win every time you have a negative thought.

Let’s look at Philippians 4 chapter 8 where Paul wrote a list of things to think about. He tells us that if we think about these things and only these things we will win the Warfare of the mind every time. Here is this list

1. Whatever is true

2. Whatever is Honorable and worthy of respect

3. Whatever is right and confirmed by

4. Whatever is pure and wholesome

5. Whatever is lovely and brings peace

6. Whatever is admirable and of good report

7. If there is any excellence

8. If there is anything worthy of praise

9. We are to thank continually on these things, Center our mind on them, and implant them in our hearts

Now that you know where the battle is and where it is not, and what to think about so that you will win in your mind every time….

We win!
