Read me a story…

Dr. W.H. Penewit

Read me a story...

Read me a story   This could be the title for a good children’s article, but this article is not for children. Actually, this article is about women… more specifically about wives. So if you are wife reading this article, then this article is for your husband. If you are a husband reading this article, then you are in the right place.

If you’ve been in the church then I’m certain that you’ve heard your pastor quote one of Paul’s verses in the book of Ephesians. Paul said that the husband should “love their wives like Christ loved the church”.

Love your wives…just like Jesus does

I talk to husbands about this specific verse all the time, and most of the time I get a look of Terror from the men. They look at me as if to say how am I supposed to do that! Who do you think I am God?

When I hear them say that, my answer is “no but you’re not that far off”. We are not God but we are sons of God and as sons of God we have the ability to do what Our Father does.

So to answer the question how do we men love our wives like Christ loved the church?… let’s look at

Ephesians 5: 25-26 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, hence the quote Read  me a story

Wives long to ask their husbands…”read me a story”

This is where it gets good because the first step isn’t that difficult at all. If you know how to read and obviously you do because you are reading this article, then you can read to your wife.

When you read the scripture to your wife, Paul said it washes her with the washing of the water of The Word. This means that you input The Word into your wife…

It would take me many many pages to explain what that does for her, but suffice it to say it will have positive effects!

I read to my wife right before we turn out the light for the night when we go to bed. I read the Word of God, sometimes followed by a book from a good Christian Author that we are studying. I have been doing this for many years, and the result is extraordinary.

Don’t take my word for it, begin doing this for your wife every night, even if it’s just for 15 minutes or so. Read The Bible to her and let her know how much you love her

Just one more step… ADD/ADHD…REALLY?
