I’m about to give you my take on spiritual warfare and how it fits in your everyday life and especially counseling.
Spiritual warfare and counseling, Beginning to understand WHY…
Have you ever wondered why the relationship between you and your mate go awry?
You may wonder if there ever was a time when man and woman always got along?
Let’s look at what Jesus himself said in John 10 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly”
Jesus made two statements here …the first one is that “the Devil comes to steal kill and destroy you and your marriage…”
The second statement here is that Jesus said that “he came that we may have life and have it abundantly.”
That means that no matter what attacks our marriage, no matter what happens between a husband and wife…
Jesus himself is the life and light of a marriage!
You may be asking but what does this have to do with spiritual warfare in a marriage?
The answer is another question:
What do you do when your marriage is under attack and you come to your senses and realize that you and your mate are pulling apart?
God has provided us with all the weapons of spiritual warfare that we need.
Let’s look at Ephesians chapter 6 starting at verse 10…
Paul says “finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might”
verse 11 says “put on the full armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
This next verse explains where the battle is and where the battle is not!
“Forour struggle is not against flesh and bloodbut against rulers against Powers against the world forces of this Darkness against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the Heavenly places.”
Did you get that? Your battle is not against your mate!
I know it may seem like it is but it is not!
As we get further into this series… I’m going to explain exactly where the battle is and how to fight the good fight and win!
