Where does fear come from?

Fear is a universal emotion that seems to affect everyone, but is there a way out?

Where does fear come from? The answer isn’t as simple as it seems. Whoever stated that “a little fear in one’s life is healthy” hasn’t sat in my chair at Fort Worth Christian Counseling and experienced what fear does to a human being. There is something that is the “best friend” of fear that goes everywhere fear does and it can destroy a life in an instant if it isn’t dealt with quickly.

Death is the cause of fear

If you are “afraid” of something, whats the reason? If you are afraid of dogs then you are afraid that they will kill you and you will die. If you are afraid to fly then you are afraid that the plane will crash and you will die. If you are afraid of water then you are afraid that you will drown and die. I realize that most of us didn’t see fear that way but the two fit like a hand in a glove.  Wherever fear it is, death is always right there with it!  Even though it may be difficult to see at this point, death is the reason why our thought process always goes awry.

So now you can see that stress comes about because we are meditating about the bad things that can happen to us. We think about all of the bad things that have happened to us, all of the terrifying horrible things that have happened to us.  But what are we really stressing about?  What really keeps us in the state of depression?  It is that helpless feeling that we all have when we stress and meditate on something that might happen that we have no control over. So we’re really think that we are helpless to stop what we fear!

Is there a way out?

Yes!  There really is a way out, and the way to find that way out is learning how we think.  I realize that everybody thinks…it is how we function.  But there are five temperaments and thousands of various blends and each one of us has the unique a way that we approach thinking.

Let’s look at what the bible have to say about fear and death and how it has been already dealt with on our behalf!  That “he” that this next verse is speaking about is Jesus Christ himself.

Hebrews 2

14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

So you can see here that before Jesus is set us free, we were held in bondage in slavery to fear and death our entire lives!  So now that we know that we have already been set for eight from fear in death the next part is to learn what your temperament is. Knowing that information about yourselves is the way to freedom from fear and death.
