Who has an affair?

Are you the kind of spouse who has an affair?

As a doctor with a “Word of faith Based” mental health practice…I really have “heard it all”.

But I want you to understand that I’m not a judgmental individual who looks down at people who come to see me.

In-fact, I have yet to look judgmentally at anyone who has ever sat in my office.

I truly understand the quote “there but by the grace of God go I”

So the question “Are you the kind of spouse who has an affair?” isn’t meant to be judgmental.

As much as it may hurt to think about it, extra marital affairs happen frequently.

No doubt you know someone who is involved in an affair or you’ve fantasized about it yourself.

Sometimes it takes years to reach the point in one’s life where affairs can happen, but it can happen with newlyweds too.

If you are heading toward an affair or have ever thought about it, there are things that you can do to stop it. (1)

Affairs are certainly not God’s will for a marriage,

but he knows what we are facing here on Earth and that’s why he sent Jesus for us. Hebrews 4:15 explains it:

“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers.

We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality.

He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin.

So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.”

As I think about it and realize that there are steps that lead to disaster,

I know that it’s not that hard to make a series of poor choices…and to grow apart from your mate.
