Are you looking for ways to lower stress and depression? I have 33 ways to lower stress and depression
stress and depression “Honesty is the best policy.”
My first suggestion is to be honest with yourself. What I mean by this is to begin to tale “mental notes.” What are mental notes?
Begin to make and HONEST list of situations, things and especially PEOPLE
that you can honestly say are not necessarily good for your state of well being.
Let us talk about people in your life that really do not need to associate with.
These are the people that after you spend time with them…you feel like you have just run a 5-mile marathon.
These people critique everything that you try to accomplish or any accomplishment that you have.
Do these people make you feel better about yourself? or do they constantly make you question everything that you do?
“taking a long look at yourself” is a good thing.
It helps you to see the imperfections in your life and the things that you need to change.
BUT! These things are best left to asking either your mate (assuming you have a healthy relationship) or The Holy Spirit.
Seeking advice from an “old friend” will most likely make you question even the positive things that you accomplish.
Developing an intimate relationship with God will always turn our right.
Stress and depression“The big change” …what things HONESTLY need changing?
This is where things can get uncomfortable. Here is why.
People develop a pattern that once they feel comfortable with, they “settle in” to the routine and never take a second look at things.
This may be great for a while, but people change, things change and life changes!
Begin to look at your “comfort zone” and its content.
Look long enough and you will see that there are things there that should have been swept long ago.
I realize that this may not be an easy thing…so I am going to give you my definition of the word COMFORT ZONE
Dr. Penewits’ definition of a comfort zone. “comfort zone…a place where you don’t have to use your faith.”
Faith is working in an area of your life where you cannot see what is happening. It is walking a path that you cannot see.
Its facing a giant that is bigger than you are or a mountain that seems immovable.
All these things require changes. Let is look at a few areas where you may need change.
The words that you speak.
When you go “giant hunting” your words must be precise. Look at David and Goliath:
Here is what Goliath said in 1 Samuel 17:43
So, the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 The Philistine also said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the wild animals.”
These words may frighten some, especially when you consider the size of Goliath compared to David…
but Davis obviously did not care what Goliath was saying…
instead he answered him with his own words. Let us see what David said:
45 But David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a [ab]saber,
but I come to you in the name of the Lord of armies, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you and remove your head from you.
Then I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth,
so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that this entire assembly may know
that the Lord does not save by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will hand you over to us!”
David had his own ideas, and they were well out of his “comfort zone”
He spoke words of faith and then followed up on his words.
You may be wondering how you are going to change the words that you say.
You may be thinking…” Dr Penewit if you only knew what is going on in my
life and the circumstances that are going on then you would understand
why I am speaking the words that I speak!
