God, guilt and you
God, guilt and you I’m certain you’ve thought about it a few times in your life…I know I have.
At times you may wish you didn’t have a mind full of The Word of God so you could
dismiss the feeling of guilt and failure.
This can come at a high price because if you allow the feelings to continue it will
change a few things in your mind, and if you let it go long enough it can have permanent consequences.
Failure/missing the mark
Guilt can come from a few main sources but lets look a two.
Guilt can come from something that we did or said but most often it comes because of a failure in our life.
You’ve missed the mark…and you will most likely blame yourself.
“But it’s my fault” you exclaim! “I did it on purpose”…or “I should have known better”
These are what we call “missing the mark”.
It wasn’t what you did or didn’t do, it’s who you didn’t connect with soon after the failure.
God, guilt and you
Its when we don’t approach God soon enough that can cause the difficulty.
The guilt will convince you that you cant ask God for forgiveness until you have punished yourself for awhile.
But 1 John 1:9 tells us that: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
This can work instantly and have immediate results. Still there is much to say about The 5 Temperaments
Temperament and guilt
So which Temperaments have difficulty with guilt? Actually all 5 can have various degrees of guilt difficulties.
This temperament can feel guilt simply by sitting and thinking about things.
Because they have a mind that runs very fast they may try to set goals to unreachable heights
then feel guilty that they couldn’t reach these goals.
They will feel anger towards others who couldn’t reach their lofty goals and then feel guilty that they pressured others.
The Sanguine often pressures their close relationships wives/husbands to meet their needs for intimacy
then feel guilty when their loved ones rebel.
Since the Sanguine feels and fears rejection they can at times carry guilt.
The Supine has a servants heart to such a tender degree that they feel guilt simply by asking for help when they need it
